I worked with a small independent workshop in Devon for this special project. Tanner Bates are known for their use of speciality leathers and traditional techniques in leather craft. They are the epitomy of today's definition of luxury goods - everything is handmade in small numbers and with love, by people who care.
The Italian leather we used to make Jack comes from a family tannery in Florence where they still use the ancient method of tanning with bark from mimosa and chestnut trees rather than chemicals. As a result Jack is bursting with character - and with use, the leather will mark and scuff and take on a life of its own as the patina develops.
Every wallet will arrive with you packaged in a H&T cotton dustbag, with a care card from Tanner Bates signed by the maker of your Jack wallet.
This original wallet belonged to my Grandad - Jack. I remember clearly how he would open the popper, shake some coins out into the palm of his hand, select one for me and slide them back in, and tuck the wallet safely back into his pocket. I wanted to bring this piece back to life as it is something truly useful for contemporary life - for men and ladies. (And me!)
Jack will be packed inside a H&T cotton dustbag (handy for travel and organising!) - and then into a padded envelope, with a care card and a signed postcard. All our outer cartons and envelopes are fully recyclable, and are perfect for re-use.
